so, on the various stresses:
1) Moving! I found a new apartment, it is more expensive but I can afford it, it is a ONE-BEDROOM so I don't have to live all in one room, it's very close to where some of my friends live and to buses. I'm not moving until mid-October and I have to wait until the current tenants move out and the property manager determines what repairs might be needed to figure out what my moving date will be. But the big part is done.
1b) I still have to pack everything I own. That part's gonna suck. At least I don't have THAT much stuff, but I know it will feel like way too much when I'm staring down the barrel of moving day.
1c) At least I didn't have to move on September 1st when 75% of the leases in Boston turn over.
2) Work! We survived new student orientation with only minor hiccups and one major thing that was entirely behind the scenes but did not directly happen to me. I have a lot of projects and things all hitting in the next month, and the conference is happening in exactly a month, and I keep swinging between "I am killing it" to "this job is killing me" which I guess averages out to doing an okay job. We'll see! I'm gonna be really bummed if I have to scrap our webinar series because nobody is helping me review, but them's the breaks.
3) Aging! My birthday was actually great, with a brunch with my lovely pals and "mimosas by the bottle" and a book club meeting with possibly the best cake I will ever receive. It was pretty low-key but that's how most of my birthdays have been since starting a job where orientation will always be the last two weeks of August. For the larger stuff - well, it's been a week, so who the fuck knows. Comparisons are useless. All I can do is keep doing my best.
4) The state of the world at large.
5) I saw the musical Six at A.R.T. last week and I've had every single song from the soundtrack stuck in my head at least once. It is catchy as hell. (This is a new British musical that asks "what if the six wives of Henry VIII were pop divas and held an American Idol-style competition to see whose marriage was the worst" and it's 75 minutes long and EXCELLENT, would recommend.)
6) New semester starts tomorrow. Lord have fucking mercy.
