Standard disclaimer re: not updating ever! What have I been up to?
* Went on vacation! I got to see my brother, who was doing well as always. He has a GIRLFRIEND that he TOLD US ABOUT, which he hasn't done since... high school? She's pretty. And I went to New York City and played tourist, which was great. Met up with two of my old high school friends, both of whom were utterly shocked by my short hair; got to see "One Man, Two Guvnors" and "Newsies" on Broadway; got to meet Britt and Meredith in person and unfortunately was not able to bring them home in my suitcase; and rode back from Jersey with a car full of some of my favorite jerks. <3
* Flipped out at work! I got a talking-to about productivity and focus which has actually been helpful but was not the most fun. And we're folding two other programs into our department and despite our repeated pleas nobody listened to the staff when we suggested actually planning for this shit. The new semester is two weeks away, I expect us to all crash and burn, and my supervisor is on board with my suggestion to replace the TA office with a bar for staff use only.
* Fell back into comics fandom! This was a combination of the new Captain Marvel series starting, which has led me to set up a pull list for the first time ever, and going to see The Dark Knight Rises. As predicted I do not care about Nolan's central manpain arc but am caught up in a feelings spiral about secondary characters. I really liked Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, and I... possibly have several thousand words of post-movie fic about John Blake and a not-appearing-in-the-films Barbara Gordon. (NOBODY IS SURPRISED.) Luckily I have
momebie to keep me company on this slow slide into complete incoherence. (He's just so bad at human emotions!)
* Wrote a bunch of stuff! I posted my reverse bang, the hardest science to forget. It was hard to write but turned out well, and since I'm apparently taking a small vacation from Inception fandom it was a nice place to put that down for a bit. I signed up for Avatar Ladyfest and for RarePairFest too, and need to get cracking on those fics. WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?
* Did the roommate shuffle! My roommate that I've had since November has departed for grad school in the Midwest; my new roommate is moving in on Sunday, which is sad because I thought I was going to have another week in which to wander around in my underwear. I mean, I still could, but I should probably ask first. New roomie was very nice when I met her, has no problems with me being a hermit, and is Argentinian. So that's cool. She also has a cat but he is reportedly less cranky and mean. WE'LL SEE. In the meantime I have already cleaned the fridge and plan to scrub down the whole bathroom tomorrow.
* Left the house a whole bunch! I continued to go on Breakfast Adventures with Kait and Lindsay, and I think we're going to keep that going in modified form now that Lindsay's headed down to the southlands for grad school. I've been to movies and Romantic Beerz and met
fahye and didn't have a complete meltdown in front of her like a dweeb. I hung out with a new friend from the Hairpin. Guys, it's my birthday next week and I have more than one person to maybe hang out with that I'm not related to, this is new and exciting and makes me sort of choked up with happiness. Even when it's tough, my life is pretty great right now.

:DDDD I am glad to hear from you. <3 And SERIOUSLY RIGHT. I found out this week that one of my high school friend's little brothers got engaged, and another friend's baby brother got MARRIED. That is just weird.
RarePairFest is happening over here! The thing is that it's for rare pairings in established fandoms, which they determined through the scientific method of... counting numbers of fics on FF.net and AO3? I have no idea, a friend went "You like the stuff nobody else likes, go sign up!" and I did. And I keep forgetting that someone is writing fic for me on the other side of it! FESTS, DUDE.

MY BROTHER AND SISTER BOTH JUST TURNED 25 AND 30 RESPECTIVELY, THIS IS SO WEIRD.
Pffffft. Established fandoms, I smack you. I make my own!

Ariadne hating Los Angeles made me giggle, though.

I have a very elaborate headcanon about Ariadne being the child of academics and raised in the frigid northlands (hence the name and layers and scarves) and she's kind of an awful hipster, so I figure LA is like her antithetical location. :D

I hope your birthday was rad-ful! Wish I could have bought you a drink live and in person or something, but hopefully one of these new rad people in your life bought you one!
